I have a HP pavilion 6535 and I want to rebuild it.?
I do not know what parts I need but I know it is not going to be cheep. I want 2 250gb hdd, 1 gb memory upgradable. a good sound card and a good vid card for real detail graphics. I know I will need at least a 500wt power sup.a good cpu that wont burn out in a month probably a 3.5Ghz? I can figure the cd/dvd players/writers out. not sure about the mobo either. I will need at least 4 expansion slots. I will be using it to make movies from a vid. cam. If I need more than what I have stated please let me know that too. Thank you for all your input.
If you are doing video work you want two things, a lot of ram and a fast cpu. You do not need a crazy graphics card, even integrated cards like the nvidia 7100 can play flawless hdtv.
I would go with a core 2 quad, a motherboard from xfx (the best performance company out there) as much ram as I can afford, and a fast large hard drive.

it should be only about $700, which is far far cheaper than most video editing computers. Most start at $1200 with inferior components.
And whatever you do absolutely do not use a raid 0, dont even think about it, you will lose a hard drive and lose everything you have on your computer forever. The guy who said that knows nothing of computers and is a moron, I am constantly dealing with people who lose everything they have because some fool told them to use a raid 0. Only use a raid 1 (mirrored) if you do decide to have a raid, it is redundant and your data will be saved if either drive fails.
