will lithium batteries work on nicad power tools?
I know of no instances where it is possible. It is both a technical and an economic issue for the manufacturers and even though the voltages may be the same, the fittings and connections are always different. I've work with a large crew that has most of the major brands and none of them are interchangeable in any way and I've never seen a LIon battery fit in an older NiCad tool or vice versa. In rare cases I've seen lower voltage batteries fit in tools that are meant for higher rated power of the same make and battery style but never the other way around as it would put too much energy into a tool that couldn't take it.
