My 24 month old daughter is hitting me, how do I stop this?

So far what I have been doing to fix this is giving her an immediate time out when we are at home. This seems to be working pretty well. But she still does it on occasion and I'm not sure how to handle it especially when it happens in public. A few things I have done if she hits me in a public are: grab her arm firmly and say"We don't hit when we're angry." I have also offered the alternative of saying "We don't hit, but you can 'pet' mama nice like you do to the kitty." I know this last one sounds silly, but she has learned not to be rough with our cat so I'm hoping this approach might work with me.

It sounds like you are on the right track already, it just takes time. Hitting can be a nasty phase. As far as the time outs in public..I give them to my daughter. We'll go to the bathroom in a restaurant if she's really out of control (just getting away from chaos seems to calm her down, but knowing that the naughty corner can be anywhere she is helps too).
