Inch Sata
Does my mobo support SATA-2?
So I have Gigabyte N680SLI-DQ6 (rev 2.0) (lol got it back in '08)
and I recently upgraded from DC2,6GHz to QC 2,9GHz
Now I want to add SSD memory and I am not sure if my mobo supports SATA2...
I saw some SATA-II options in BIOS and also there are some sata2 driver downloads on the support page (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2553#dl)
those are:
GIGABYTE SATA2 Preinstall driver (For AHCI / RAID Mode)
GIGABYTE SATA2 RAID Driver
This is quite confusing because SATA2 support was not listed in specs -.-'
also the SSD i want is
KINGSTON SSDNow 128GB, 2.5 inch, SATA II, V Series, SNV425-S2BD/128GB

sure does! but even if you had sata 1 or 3 you could still run any sata drive....it just caps at the slowest speed. for example, a sata 3 port with a sata 1 drive would run at sata 1 speeds, a sata 1 port with a sata 2 drive...it would run at sata 1 speeds.
