If i buy a dell or vaio laptop from India, is there chances that it will not be genuine (Chinese)?
In this case is there any way to recognize a genuine Dell or Vaio laptop?
With a Dell, you would just use the Service Tag assigned to the laptop. You take the service tag on the laptop, and you enter it in at http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs or the Dell support site in India http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=in&cs=indhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=GuidedPathHomePage and if the product is genuine, the service tag will be recognized and you will be taken to the product page for your exact laptop.
With a Sony you would use the model number first to make sure that it actually exists at Sony by entering it in at the US Sony support site http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER or the India Sony support site http://www.sony.co.in/section/support you could further verify it by contacting Sony Support, and giving them the serial number.
Is there a chance that it won't be genuine? It all depends on where you purchase it from. If you purchase it from an authorized reseller, the chance that it won't be genuine is very low. If you purchase it from a seedy shop or a road-side vendor, then you get what you pay for.
